Just a final reminder for any volunteers to join us tomorrow to help at the Leeds Waterfront Festival. Meeting at 10am by the Brasserie Blanc restaurant on SOVEREIGN STREET, LEEDS, LS1 4BJ to setup.
If you need a little more persuasion, our sponsors Brasserie Blanc have now confirmed tea, coffee and lunch will be made available plus discounted beer is on offer from the adjacent Ikley Brewery tent! Santé!
Hi All – Just a reminder we need volunteers for this weekend to support the festival. We’re setting up between 10-11am on Saturday, any help appreciated. Play from 11am through to 5pm ish. Sunday set up 10.30am and play from 11am through to 5pm ish, then pack up.
As a result, please note there will be no club session at Glen Road taking place on this Sunday 28th June. So why not come and help at the Festival instead…?

Headed down to see an old mate this week who lives in Hove, Sussex. Whilst there I had a look at Brighton & Hove’s pétanque club’s terrain and even had a few games on it. Situated right by the sea on a hot sunny day it was a great experience. Thought I would share a few pictures with you. Please find below:
This weekend 27/28th June the Leeds Waterfront Festival is taking place and, as per the previous year, we are exhibiting the Club outside our sponsors, the Brasserie Blanc restaurant on SOVEREIGN STREET, LEEDS, LS1 4BJ.
We really need as much support as possible to help set up the terrain and to show the festival goers how to play. All members are very welcome to give whatever time they can spare.
We’ll be setting up 10-11am on Saturday, and commencing play from 11am through to 5 ish and pack up. On Sunday setting up from 10.30am and playing till 5pm again and then packing up. We’re hoping our sponsors will provide some lunch for members on both days.
Please come and join us even if you can only spare a couple of hours. Those who took part last year said it was great fun and thoroughly enjoyed by all. Thanks!
Thought I should share some pictures of my birthday cake with you as it had a theme this year…you may recognise the dapper chap playing pétanque!?
The other person captured in cake is my mum whose birthday is the day before mine. If you like it and want something similar baking tell me as I know the chef very well (ex-wife and mother of my two boys).
…or as the English say ‘every cloud has a silver lining’ & yes there were plenty of clouds and a little rain but it was great to see so many members and visitors turn up for the Open Day on Sunday. The weather tried really hard to put us off but I’m pleased to report it failed. We even had the barbecue kindly built on the day by Roy and Paul and cooked on by ‘asbestos fingers’ Kev and Gav. So much food was brought along there was more than enough for everyone. Thank you all for your delicious contributions.
Below are some photos of the day:
Bollards to ensure no rain beyond this point!
Paul showing lovely visitors Ian & Audrey his skill
New Masterchef entrant Gav cremating some burgers…only kidding! grilled to perfection.
Posy’s tortilla and Sam’s ragù! were delicious as were all the contributions!
Bon appétit !
This Sunday 14th June our club open day is taking place from 11am and if all goes to plan we are having a barbecue.
It would be great if members brought some delicious side dishes or deserts with them to share with everyone including our visitors.
Salads, breads, cold meats, cakes and bottles of wine or soft drinks would all be a very welcome contribution to the day.
Thank you in advance! See you there.
