Troon & Tweed Valley

We welcomed Bill Duthie visiting our club last Sunday. Bill plays at both Troon Pétanque club on the West coast of Scotland and Tweed Valley Pétanque club in Peebleshire almost vertically opposite but inland from Troon and below Edinburgh.

It was great to see Bill and play some games, and we hope he will visit again soon. We’ve all been invited to visit one of his clubs in the future and a fun England v Scotland pétanque match is on the cards! Pictured above are his club fixture cards. Thanks Bill.

Kirkstall Festival 2015

As usual, the sun came out yesterday for the Kirkstall Festival along with 20000 plus people.        As always, the festival was superbly run and we had our fair share of visitors experiencing pétanque for the first time. Thanks to all our members who helped out on the day (Roseanna, Ann, Mike, Gavin, Steve, Richard & our Chair, Paul who brought all the kit down as well) and thanks to Alan Crump and Roger Moran, who are the main organisers of the festival, for inviting us again and doing such a great job. Finally, thanks to all volunteers who run it and all the festival goers who had a go at pétanque. It was a really fun day and great to see the terrain is still in good shape. Hope to be back again next year!

Kirkstall Festival – Volunteers Required Please

Hi All

Next Saturday 11th July it’s the 35th Annual Kirkstall Festival taking place in the grounds of the 12th century Abbey. Same as last year, we will be demonstrating pétanque to the festival goers on the purpose built terrain.

Meeting at 10.30am by the terrain which is located over to the right of the abbey below the tennis courts, please come and help if you can spare the time. The festival runs from 11am to 5pm and last year there were 25000 visitors making it one of the most popular community festivals in Leeds!

Leeds Waterfront Festival 2015

Hello All

Last weekend the fantastic Leeds Waterfront Festival took place over two hot and sunny days. Same as on previous years, we supported it and built a terrain outside the Brasserie Blanc restaurant to demonstrate petanque to the festivals goers. We had lots of interest from all ages and it was really good fun.

A big thank you to all the club members who took part, to the festival goers who had a go and our sponsors, Brasserie Blanc on Sovereign Street for their support and providing us with a delicious lunch on both days. Below are some photos.  Looking forward to the same again next year.  Before then we have another date for your diary; the Kirkstall Festival is taking place on Saturday 11th July and we need support from our members to run the day as per last year please.

Thanks to Malcolm for providing some of the photos.
