How quickly it comes round again! On Saturday 8th July 2017, Kirkstall Festival is taking place from 11am till 5pm. As usual, our club will be supporting the festival by playing and demonstrating Petanque to the general public on the purpose built terrain .
Meeting at 10.30am by the terrain located over to the right of the abbey below the tennis courts, please come and help if you can spare the time.
It is one of the most popular community events in Leeds and always good fun.
On Sunday 16th July Harrogate Montpellier Petanque club are holding a belated Bastille Day event.
It will be late morning onwards. You are all invited to attend and the suggestion is a friendly, mixed melee with teams split between the Clubs, and BYO picnic, drinks and chairs around the Pierhead, or overflowing down on to the grass.
Please let us know this Sunday if you are able to attend so they can work out numbers.
After a great first day with lots of fun games and showing of festival goers how to play … some really good players out there! … we need to repeat it all again. The terrain is playing exceptionally well and this is mainly down to a lot of hard work put in by Richard M on Friday who swept up all the gravel from around the area. He deserves a massive thank you!
Today we are meeting at 1030am to setup the terrain – please come and help if you can.
Around 1pm today, we have arranged a special match between ourselves and Harrogate Montpellier Petanque club. Please come and support us.
It’s the festival this weekend and with pleasant weather forecast it should be popular as usual.
If you are free and able to help the club demonstrate how to play pétanque to the festival goers that’s great. Your support will be much appreciated by all.
The plan is to meet at 11am each day outside the Leeds branch of the Brassiere Blanc restaurant down by the Leeds Liverpool canal in the city – please see the map above.
Parking is quite limited around that area so I suggest using public transport but you may find a pay and display car park space on the road nearby or walk from one of the city’s many car parks.
We start at 11am and finish around 4pm. When we finish on the Saturday we need to pack up the terrain and any help appreciated.
Our sponsors, Brassiere Blanc, have offered us some lunch and it will be confirmed on the day. Normally a few of us take it in turns.
Please wear your club colours if you have them.
On the Sunday we have arranged a triples match versus Harrogate Montpellier club starting around 1pm. Should be fun.
Thank you in advance for your support. Please come for as much as you can and all help appreciated.
Any questions don’t hesitate to contact me or send a comment on here and I’ll reply.
See you soon,
Message from Pam:
Congratulations to our brilliant team on more wins in the league.
Well done, gentlemen, and thank you!
A massive thanks to Pam for all her organising of the team! She’s doing a fantastic job and we’d be lost without her support.
